Spanish town cut off by heavy downpours

HEAVY rains in the Spain's southwest cut off road, rail and air access to the city of Jerez, authorities said yesterday.

Airport authority AENA said Jerez airport had to temporarily close due to flooding that affected the runway and the terminal building's basement, party knocking out electrical systems. Several submerged vehicles also had to be removed from principal roads.
