Spanish jobless rate hits 22.9 per cent

THE number of people seeking unemployment benefits in Spain rose by 112,269 in January to around 4.7 million.

Spain’s jobless rate stands at 22.9 per cent, the highest in the 17-nation eurozone. Spain is set to re-enter recession this quarter.
