Spaniards kidnapped in Kenya

GUNMEN kidnapped two Spanish women working for Medecins Sans Frontieres at Kenya’s Dadaab refugee camp yesterday, the third abduction of westerners in a month.

Kenyan police suspect Somalia’s al-Shabaab insurgents were behind the kidnapping and said security forces had chased the abductors towards the border between the two countries, which has been sealed off.

The kidnapping took place within weeks of separate incidents that saw Somali gunmen seize one British and one French woman from resorts in Kenya.

Dadaab was set up in 1991 to house Somalis fleeing violence.

It has more than 400,000 residents.
