Spain ‘will not talk’ to Basque group

SPAIN has ruled out talks with the Basque separatist group ETA as it welcomed an end to four decades of violence following the group’s announcement it was laying down arms.

“There is nothing to negotiate with ETA,” Spanish defence minister Carme Chacon said.

Ms Chacon added that ETA had not achieved any of its aims and that the decades “of pain and crime have not served them at all”.
