The former James Bond star, 85, was seen without wife Micheline Roquebrune as he made a rare public appearance at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Accompanied by close friends, the Scots actor appeared to be in good health as he chatted and saluted fellow stars such as Bradley Cooper, Adrien Brody and Hugh Jackman. Also in attendance were David Beckham, fashion editor Anna Wintour and Queen Latifah.
The actor formally announced he would not make any future public appearances in April 2011.
He is widely recognised as one of the best Bonds in history, and was reportedly chosen for the role of the 007 agent because of his grace. Bond producers, Harry Saltzman and Cubby Broccoli, cast him as 007 because they liked the fact that he was a big man who nonetheless moved gracefully – “like a cat”.
After being knighted by the Queen, he famously said in 2000: “People asked why it had taken so long.”
