Shopper shot dead in Kashmir attack

POLICE say insurgents opened fire in a crowded market in the Indian portion of Kashmir, killing one civilian and critically wounding a policeman.

One officer said the attackers targeted the policeman, who was attending to a traffic jam in the town of Sopore yesterday. He says a shopper was fatally shot in the firing, and that the assailants fled after the attack.
