Seven die as troops and militants clash

A CLASH outside Kazakhstan’s commercial capital has left five militants and two government troops dead.

The fighting occurred as security services cornered suspects wanted for the murder last month of two policemen in Almaty. More than 30 people have been killed in Islamist-related violence this year in oil-rich Kazakhstan.
