Sea creatures escape cold at power plant

MORE than 200 manatees, giant eagles rays and spinner sharks are wintering in the 21C waters of a canal outside a Florida power plant, as temperatures in the US state hover around freezing point.

Along Florida's Atlantic coast, 93 sea turtles were found floating in a lagoon after the cold water shocked their systems. They have been taken to special centres to be nursed back to health.
