Scottish tourist dies after falling seven floors from hotel window in Turkey

The Glaswegian was on holiday when the incident happend.

A Scottish tourist on holiday in Turkey died after falling out of a window in a seven storey building.

Anthony McDowall, known as Tony, was on holiday in Istanbul when the incident took place on Wednesday.

It is understood the 28-year-old fell after trying to jump between two windows in Hacimimi Mahallesi Karabas Street, in the Beyoglu district.

According to reports in Turkish media, Mr McDowall was in the city with two friends, including an ex-girlfriend from America.

Tributes have since flooded in for him including his former football club, Southside United AFC.

Members wrote: "We are devastated to hear the news of the passing of Tony McDowall whilst on holiday.

"Tony played a huge role when we gained promotion to the premier division.

"Tony was a great player and more importantly a great guy.

"Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

A spokesman for the Foreign Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man following his death in Turkey and are in touch with the local authorities.”
