Scots bomb victim case arrests

A GROUP of Hamas militants accused of being behind a bombing that killed a Scottish woman and wounded dozens of civilians have been arrested by Israeli security forces.

The bomb killed Mary Jean Gardner, a 59-year-old from Orkney who had moved to Israel in January to study Hebrew. Shin Bet said a 36-year-old West Bank Palestinian who made the bomb was among dozens of militants arrested. So was a 23-year-old Palestinian from Jerusalem who allegedly planted it next to a busy bus stop in the city on 23 March. Another 30 people were injured in the blast.

Agents also seized a bomb intended for use by a suicide bomber in an attack planned by the same cell for August 21.

The would-be bomber, a 20-year-old Palestinian from Hebron, was also caught.
