Sacked staff get their jobs back

Bahrain’s official news agency says 79 education ministry staff who were dismissed from their jobs during months of protests will get their jobs back.

The agency said yesterday the employees would be back at work by 1 January. The move comes two days after the Gulf kingdom said it would reinstate 180 other civil servants.

More than 1,600 suspected opposition supporters have been pushed out of their jobs since March, when Bahrain’s Sunni rulers started cracking down on Shiite-led protesters campaigning for more rights.
