Russian liberal coalition stymied

A RUSSIAN court yesterday upheld the government’s decision to prevent a liberal opposition coalition from registering as a party ahead of a parliamentary election later this year.

The justice ministry decision in June to deny registration to the Party of People’s Freedom sparked criticism from the United States and Europe.
