Twitter users largely sceptical of time lapse clip

A short clip with a series of pictures showing a bright orange object in the sky was uploaded by the actor earlier today.

The video was then posted on the Oscar-winning actor’s Twitter account with the message: “UFO? Time Lapse Photos Outside RC’s Woolloomooloo Office (THESE ARE REAL!)”.

The video came about as Crowe and a fried had set up a camera to capture fruit bars rising from the Botanic Gardens. He called the video a “big surprise.”

Twitter users were scpetical of Crowe’s claims, with one user theorising that the video was the result of “an insect or some such reflecting the light on the other side of the trees into your time lapse camera.”

Crowe defended the authenticity of the 23-second clip, tweeting: “Canon 5D, No Flash, can’t be a lense flare because it moves, camera is fixed.”

The Australian, who won an Oscar for Ridley Scott’s Gladiator in 2000, and is best known for leading roles in films such as LA Confidential, American Gangster and, more recently, Les Misérables.
