Syria’s crackdown on protesters may be grounds for prosecutions for crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court, UN investigators have said. They have evidence against 50 suspects.

Syrian forces have fired on peaceful protesters often at short range and without warning, killing at least 1,900. Wounds were “consistent with a shoot-to-kill policy,” with some victims finished off with knives.
