Profile: Rudy Guede - His bloody fingerprints found on Meredith’s pillow

Rudy Guede denied any wrongdoing in Meredith Kercher’s murder. Although admitting that he was at the student’s house on the night she was killed, he maintained during his trial that he was “on the toilet” when she was murdered, claiming that he panicked after running to help her and fleeing the scene.

He fled to Germany but was arrested and deported back to Italy to face murder charges. Police in Italy claimed his bloody fingerprints had been found on Ms Kercher’s pillow.

Guede was ordered to spend 30 years in jail for the murder, cut to 16 on appeal.

A fellow inmate said Guede had told him the young couple were innocent, and that he had been aided by one person who had slit Kercher’s throat.
