Pakistani soldiers killed in battle with Taleban

SOME 23 Pakistani soldiers and 110 militants have been killed in fierce fighting in a strategic area of north-west Pakistan.

The army, backed by fighter planes and helicopter gunships, launched an operation against the Taleban and its allies in the Tirah Valley last Friday. Fighting was still raging yesterday.
