Packages from barber of civil

MYSTERY packages containing hairdryers, or hair clippers and a sum of money are baffling police in New Zealand.

Four packages have been sent from different Paris addresses to residents of New Zealand’s South Island. They also contained either €100 or NZ$100.

Two packages came with identical handwritten notes: “Thanks for being a true friend.”

“We are hoping it’s a random gesture of goodwill,” said Senior Sergeant Allyson Ealam.
