The Loanhead born performer has appeared in Still Game and Outlander, as well as Marvel’s box office hit Guardians of the Galaxy.

Now he’s turned his attention to aiding CLIC Sargent, a charity who provide ‘clinical, practical and emotional support’ to help both children suffering with cancer and their families.

He’s currently a quarter of the way to realising his ambition of raising £10,000.

Gilhooley wrote on the Just Giving page: “Only a couple of days to go before I head off across WA... quite nervous now. Just found out about all our arrangements for food etc. Excited to be doing this 20 day mad cycle for such a great cause!

“I want to thank all you wonderful people who are giving so generously. Your generosity will help these brave children SMILE broadly in such a dark time in their short lives. God Bless you all xxxx”
