Pedro and Onil Castro said that they did not want to see Ariel executed because he had to suffer for his crimes.

Ariel, 52, is accused of keeping three girls captive for a decade in his house in Cleveland, Ohio, during which time he repeatedly had sex with them.

Initially all three brothers were arrested but Pedro, 54, and Onil, 50, were later released.

They told a TV news channel that they had no clue about what their brother was up to and that if they had any suspicions they would have “grabbed him by the neck” and gone straight to the police.

“I’m just grateful they [the women] are home and out of that horrible house, and I’d just tell them I’m sorry for what Ariel done,” said Pedro.

Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight have been reunited with their families.

Onil said he wanted Ariel to “suffer in that jail”, adding: “I don’t care if they even feed him. The monster’s a goner.”

Pedro and Onil are currently living at an undisclosed location as they say their homes have been pelted with rocks and they have received death threats. They fear they will be associated with Ariel’s alleged crimes for the rest of their lives. Pedro said: “You already got your monster, please give us our freedom.”

Onil said: “This has torn my heart apart. This has killed me.”
