'No mercy' promised in hunt for Eta killers

PRESIDENT Nicolas Sarkozy has said France will show no mercy for Basque terrorists blamed for killing a French police officer.

Yesterday at a ceremony for the officer, he said: "France will not let itself be intimidated by Spanish terrorists." He promised a police campaign that would be "total and without mercy".
