Nations agree joint Mekong patrols

China will operate police patrols with Thailand, Laos and Burma along the Mekong river from next month.

China suspended shipping through South-east Asia’s “Golden Triangle” after two of its cargo ships were attacked and 13 sailors killed last month. The four countries agreed on the joint patrols at a ministerial meeting in Beijing.
