Minister pays heavy price for orange

Canada’s foreign aid minister has resigned after criticism of extravagant spending, including a glass of orange in a London Hotel which cost £10.

Bev Oda, the minister for international co-operation, said she advised prime minister Stephen Harper two weeks ago that she would step down as a member of parliament on 31 July.
