Message in a bottle travels 4,000 miles

A US sailor in a beach clean-up in Hawaii found a message in a bottle dropped in the Pacific more than five years ago by a girl 4,000 miles away in Japan.

Petty Officer Jon Moore stumbled on the bottle containing a note from Saki Arikawa dated 25 March, 2006, four origami flowers, and a photo of her class in Kagoshima, launched to mark her leaving elementary school.
