Lucky escape at US shoot-out

A BELT buckle has saved a supermarket employee by stopping a stray bullet from a shoot-out at a Philadelphia grocery store.

Bienvenido Reynoso, 38, took a trolley outside late on Wednesday afternoon when shots started flying, so he hit the ground inside the store. Surveillance video shows a cake being shot off the shelf above his head.

Reynoso yesterday said he didn’t realise he was hit until someone pointed out a hole in his shirt, and he discovered the bullet in his belt buckle.

Christian Vinas, 21, working behind the counter, also escaped harm when the shooting began.

“That has to be God,”
Mr Vinas said.
