Life for woman who killed girl

A SUNDAY school teacher who pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering a friend of her daughter was sentenced to life in prison yesterday.

A judge in northern California sentenced Melissa Huckaby, 29, to life without parole as part of a plea deal that removed the possibility of the death penalty.

Huckaby entered her plea last month to first-degree murder with kidnapping in the death of eight-year-old Sandra Cantu, of Tracy, whose body was found in a suitcase pulled from an irrigation pond.
