Japan shaken by strong earthqauke

A STRONG earthquake shook southern Japan yesterday, but authorities said no tsunami was expected and there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

The Meteorological Agency said the quake off the coast near Okinawa registered a preliminary magnitude of 6.1.
