Israel seals off Gaza Strip

ISRAEL sealed off the Gaza Strip yesterday, preventing thousands of Palestinians from reaching their jobs, in response to a suicide bombing that killed four Israelis on Wednesday.

Brigadier General Gadi Shamni, Israel’s military commander in Gaza, said Israel would retaliate for the attack, in which Reem Salih al-Raishy, 22, a mother, blew herself up.

Thousands marched through Gaza for her funeral yesterday. "This woman abandoned her husband and children in order to win paradise," said Hamas’s leader, Mahmoud Zahar.
