Islamists declare ceasefire in Nigeria

A PURPORTED commander of Nigerian Islamist sect Boko Haram declared a unilateral ceasefire yesterday, raising fresh questions about possible rifts within the militant movement.

Sect member Sheik Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez said twice last year that Boko Haram is ready for peace talks.
