Iraqi Kurds’ leader warns of civil war

Iraq needs a US military presence beyond this year and the final withdrawal of American forces will increase the possibility of civil war, Masoud Barzani, the president of Iraq’s semi-autonomous Kurdish region has said.

“In our opinion the need for the US forces in Iraq is still on … the absence of US forces in Iraq means the possibility of civil war,” Mr Barzani said.
