ICC climbdown over Gaddafi

THE son of late Libyan ruler Colonel Muammar al-Gaddafi can stay in detention in Libya while the International Criminal Court decides if it has jurisdiction to try him,.

The ICC issued a warrant for Saif al-Islam Gaddafi last June accusing him over the killing of protesters during the revolt that toppled his father. Libya wants to try him in Tripoli.

Now the ICC has said he can remain there until it rules on a Libyan appeal against his extradition.
