Host apologises for ‘slut’ remark
Right-wing US talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, roundly criticised for branding a law student a “slut” and a “prostitute” over her outspoken support of president Barack Obama’s new policy on contraception coverage, has apologised for his “insulting word choices.”
The furore over Limbaugh’s comments prompted Mr Obama – whose landmark health care overhaul requires many institutions to provide birth control coverage – to call the 30-year-old Georgetown University law student and women’s rights activist, Sandra Fluke, on Friday to express his support.
“My choice of words was not the best,” said Limbaugh.
