Hibs ladies team coach dies after balcony fall

A Hibs ladies football coach has died after falling from the balcony of her fifth-floor hotel room in Spain.

Morgan Lynn, 25, was on holiday in Benidorm with two female friends, and had been out with them for the evening, when the tragedy occurred.

Local police and the Foreign Office said Ms Lynn, left, who lives in Edinburgh, fell from a balcony at around 3am after she and her companions returned to the Hotel Gala Placidia where they were staying.

Police investigations are continuing into exactly what led to the tragedy.

Ms Lynn, originally from Hawick, worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland as an internal control officer.

Parents Kenny, 49, and Wendy, 48, were today said to be too upset to talk about the tragedy.

Ms Lynn grew up in the Borders and went to Hawick High School before studying at Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University, where she graduated in 2009 with an HND in Business Management. She was involved with the Queen Margaret ladies football team throughout her three years at the university.

She worked as a market researcher for Ipsos Mori for two years before joining RBS.

Last year, she played for Women’s Division Two football team Musselburgh Windsor, but was not playing this season due to injury. She had also recently taken up horse riding again and qualified to teach rock climbing.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “We are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time.”
