Gunman injures 17 in Alabama attack

A GUNMAN armed with an assault rifle opened fire early yesterday at a bar in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, wounding at least 17 people, four of them critically, the American city’s police chief said.

Police chief Steven Anderson said the gunman, who remained at large last night, may have targeted one of the customers.

“We believe it was not a random act,” Mr Anderson said during a news conference.
