Four held after failed bid to kill UK envoy

FOUR men, including a German and an Iraqi, have been arrested over a failed suicide bombing targeting the British ambassador in Yemen.

The Ministry of Defence said the men were being questioned about the attack, which killed the bomber and injured three bystanders. An al-Qaeda affiliate had claimed responsibility for the attack.

Ambassador Timothy Torlot narrowly escaped when a young man in a school uniform detonated his explosives belt near the diplomat's car in a poor neighbourhood of Sana.

It was the first suicide bombing in the Yemeni capital in a year.
