Former US official jailed for spying

A FORMER Pentagon official has been jailed for three years after being convicted of giving classified information to a Chinese spy.

James Fondren, 62, of Annandale, a former air force officer,

was convicted of giving classified information on United States-China military relations to a friend who turned out to be a spy for China.

He is appealing his conviction.
