First president's book returned

A LIBRARY book borrowed by the first US president, George Washington, has been returned to a New York City's oldest library, 221 years late.

Washington checked out the book, The Law of Nations, from the New York Society Library on 5 October, 1789 and it was never seen again. The returned book is a replacement handed over by staff at Washington's Mount Vernon home.
