Ewes’ turn on Parisian lawns

Four sheep have started work in Paris this week, replacing lawnmowers in keeping the grass down at the city’s gardens.

Four ewes from Brittany are munching the grass surrounding Paris Archives building.

The ovine operation follows a stint last year by two goats that were hired by the Louvre to mow the lawn at Tuileries, central Paris’s 17th-century gardens.

“Animal lawnmowers are ecological as no petrol is required,” said Marcel Collet, Paris farm director.
