Drop in piracy as navies take action

WORLD sea piracy fell 35 per cent in the first quarter of 2013 from a year ago, with the focus shifting to West Africa as navies helped keep pirates away from Somalia.

The International Maritime Bureau said 66 attacks were recorded in the first three months of 2013, against 102 in the same period last year.
