Chinese see red on yellow light

DRIVERS in China are being warned that running a yellow light at junctions will be viewed as equivalent to running a red one.

The clampdown on amber gamblers will see the penalty for traffic light violations, whether yellow or red, doubled.

However, many drivers claim the move changes the concept of the yellow light as a warning, making it illegal to proceed if the way is clear. Even the official Xinhua News Agency joined in the criticism. On its Twitter-like Sina Weibo account, Xinhua said the new rules were “unreasonable” and diced with Sir Isaac Newton’s first law of motion.
