Champion fighter freed by court

A MARTIAL arts champion from Russia’s southern Caucasus was convicted yesterday of involuntary manslaughter, but freed by the court for time served.

Ivan Agafonov died in Moscow after his head struck a sewer grate during a nightclub fray with fighter Rasul Mirzayev.
