Challenge to Ghana election result

Ghana’s main opposition party has filed a petition to challenge the election won by president John Mahama.

In its petition, the New Patriotic Party cites irregularities in the vote earlier this month. Mr Mahama won the election with 50.7 per cent of the vote. Opposition leader Nana Akufo-Addo came in second with 47.7 per cent of the vote.
