Joe Biden isn’t the most likely of his own party to win the presidency again in 2024, according to bookmakers, who give his Vice-Presidential pick, Kamala Harris, the best odds.

While the result from this year’s election still hasn’t quite been finalised, the bookies’ view is that the man who currently looks most likely to be the next President won’t be the nominee in 2024.

Commentators in the US have often said that Mr Biden might not seek to serve a second term, but would be replaced with a younger nominee. At 77, Mr Biden would become the oldest person to be sworn in as President if he wins, after Donald Trump became the oldest, following his election in 2016, at the age of 70.

Many experts also think the next president is likely to be a woman, who would be the first ever to be elected US president, which many people expected would be Hillary Clinton.

As well as Kamala Harris, young New York Democratic senator Alexandra Ocasio Cortez is tipped as an early contender for 2024, as is Republican former Vice-Presidential nominee, Nikki Haley.

Could Donald Trump be elected again?

US presidents are limited to serving two terms, but there’s nothing to say these have to be consecutive.

As it seems the 2020 election was relatively close, with a lot of support still present for the current president, the odds on Donald Trump retaking the presidency in 2024 are relatively high, at 14/1.

Speaking to the Today program, a former advisor to Trump said he thinks Trump should run again in 2024 if he loses the current election.

Bryan Lanza commented, “If I'm advising the President and, occasionally, we have conversations, I would say to him, ‘Sir, you are in a good position right now, if you come up short, to run again in four years.’”

If he won in 2024, Trump would become the second person ever to serve two separate terms as US President. Grover Cleveland lost his re-election bid in 1888, only to retake the White House in 1892.

But Donald isn’t the only Trump to feature among the most likely 47th presidents. In fact, his son, Donald Junior, also comes in at 14/1, with daughter Ivanka at 18/1.

A spokesperson for bookmaker PaddyPower said, “The [2024 US election] market is genuinely fascinating – with various Democrats ABOVE Joe Biden according to our odds, with the man who looks like being the next President only slightly above Donald and Ivanka Trump in the betting.”

Meanwhile, Betting website BetOnline.ag reports that the most popular bets for president after the 2024 US election are Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, Donald Trump Jnr, Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump and podcaster Joe Rogan.

The site lists Joe Biden’s VP pick, Kamala Harris, as current favourite to win the next US election at 3-1, and Biden himself as third favourite at 7-1

It also offers odds on a few more outside-the-box contenders, like Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Kanye West at 50-1, as well as George Clooney and Meghan Markle, both at 100-1.

After his bid in this year’s election failed to really get off the ground, only receiving around 60,000 votes, rapper Kanye West hinted that he might run again next time, tweeting “KANYE 2024” on election night.
