Campaigner in racial slur trial

A SPOKESWOMAN for immigrants to France has gone on trial for allegedly insulting white French people.

The trial, which started yesterday, came after a complaint from far-right group, the General Alliance Against Racism and Respect for French and Christian Identity, against Houria Bouteldja for using an invented word to refer to white French. She claims she was misconstrued but was charged with “racial injury.”

Bouteldja, of the Movement Indigenes of the Republic, called white French “souchiens” on TV. The word derives from “souche,” or stock but sounds like sous chien, meaning “below a dog”.
