Busker pens NZ Olympic song

A SONG written by a busker has been picked from 300 entries to become New Zealand’s theme at the London Olympics.

Stand Tall was written by Sam R.B., who plays on Auckland’s Queen Street, a main shopping thoroughfare.

His tune was selected by popular vote, attracting the largest share of 25,000 ballots cast online.

However, reaction on social networks has been mixed.

Some bloggers have called the tune “fantastic,” while others have described it as “a snooze fest” and “a typical sleepy New Zealand song”.
