Brazilians make the most of divorce law

The number of Brazilians getting divorces has hit a record high, according to the country’s IBGE statistics agency.

The agency recorded more than 350,000 divorces in 2011 – 46 per cent up on the year before. The reason is that Congress enacted a law making it quicker and easier to get a divorce in the most populous Catholic nation on Earth.
