Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev are accused of conspiring to obstruct justice, while a third man, Robel Phillipos, is charged with making

An FBI affidavit says the three men removed bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s backpack from his student dorm room at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth three days after the bombing.

The affidavit says Tazhayakov and Kadyrbayev agreed to get rid of it after concluding from news reports that Tsarnaev was one of the bombers.

A court appearance for the three was scheduled for late last night UK time.

An eight-year-old boy was among three people killed with more than 260 injured on 15 April, when two bombs exploded near the finishing line.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, has already been charged over the bombings and is being detained in a prison hospital. His 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan, was killed during a shoot-out with police.

Authorities had earlier suggested that the two brothers, who had lived in the US for several years, were believed to have worked alone.

Media reports said two of the people now charged were college classmates of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.

Tsarnaev, who was injured in the police manhunt, has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in death. He could be sentenced to death if convicted.
