A court appearance for the three was scheduled for late last night UK time.
An eight-year-old boy was among three people killed with more than 260 injured on 15 April, when two bombs exploded near the finishing line.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, 19, has already been charged over the bombings and is being detained in a prison hospital. His 26-year-old brother, Tamerlan, was killed during a shoot-out with police.
Authorities had earlier suggested that the two brothers, who had lived in the US for several years, were believed to have worked alone.
Media reports said two of the people now charged were college classmates of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Tsarnaev, who was injured in the police manhunt, has been charged with using a weapon of mass destruction and malicious destruction of property resulting in death. He could be sentenced to death if convicted.
