Bonanza awaits – but only if she’s careful

AMANDA Knox can expect to earn up to £10 million from selling her story in a series of newspaper and television interviews, public relations guru Max Clifford said yesterday.

However, the American student – who was on Monday cleared of murdering British housemate Meredith Kercher in 2007 – should tread carefully when talking about her time in Italy in order to avoid damaging her reputation, he added.

Mr Clifford said she should remain aware that “half the world still thinks she’s guilty”.

It is believed that the American television networks are vying with one another to get an exlusive interview with Ms Knox when she returns home to Seattle, in Washington state.

According to her family, Ms Knox plans to write a book about her experiences in prison.

“She’ll write, because that’s her way of dealing with things,” her stepfather, Chris Mellas, is reported to have said.

However, Mr Clifford said in an interview: “The past four years have been very damaging for her.

“She has a long way to go to win over the hearts and minds of the public.

“There were more boos outside that courtroom than there were cheers.”

Mr Clifford added: “If I were advising her – and I would only advise her if I thought she was innocent – the first thing I would do to convince the world of my innocence was meet the Kercher family.

“Then you have the foundations in place in terms of TV, movie and books.”
