Baby girl buried alive by grandfather
A BABY girl only two days old was found alive in a grave in southern India yesterday, after being buried by her grandfather who did not want to bear the cost of raising a girl.
Female infanticide and foeticide, though illegal, are frequent in some rural areas as boys are traditionally breadwinners, and families must pay huge dowries to marry off their daughters.
