Army ready to quell Karachi violence

Pakistan’s military will stem political and ethnic violence in Karachi if the civilian government asked it to, the country’s army chief has said.

General Ashfaq Kayani’s comments came amid the worsening security situation in the commercial hub of the country where around 900 people have been killed in violence this year.
