2,000 held over Mexican drug trafficking

UNITED States law enforcement agencies have arrested more than 2,000 people in a 22-month investigation targeting Mexican drug trafficking organisations in North America. More than 400 of the arrests were made earlier this week alone.

The operation, Project Deliverance, focused on the transportation of methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin and marijuana along the US-Mexico border. Local, state and national agencies including the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI worked together on the investigation.
